Shop Tools Announces Expansion Plans

Shop Tools Inc., a business based in Colorado for 28 years, located at 955 Elkton Dr., Colorado Springs, CO, announces expansion, and  relocation plans. Shop Tools is a leading Colorado based distributor of industrial supplies used to support and grow manufacturing in the state. They house over 2 million dollars in inventory, consisting of industrial metal working cutting tools, precision measuring tools and machines, abrasives, MRO and safety supplies. Currently this distributor employs more than 30 people throughout the state.

Shop Tools Inc. announced their plans to expand their operations and direction for distributing their products in Colorado. This new business strategy focuses on customers’ needs. Typically, customers will say?  “If I wanted it tomorrow, I would have ordered it tomorrow”.  Shop Tools answer to this concern is to consolidate the inventory into one distribution center while maintaining two individual business offices. Thus, enabling expansion of the product offering that will be warehoused in the state.  

The news that the buildings they had occupied  for the past 28 years needed to be vacated required them to act quickly and decisively and eliminate the potential for disrupting service to their customers.  “To us the answer seemed quite simple: Turn the 5-year plan into a 5-month plan. This business plan was already two years into the planning stages. The plan was to purchase property and build our own warehouse with room for a training center and classroom, along with a showroom for product viewing and demonstrations. Any successful plan had to improve customer service, product offering, as well as ease the ordering process and improve the speed of delivery, all without interruption to our customers’ needs.”

“March 3, 2008 was the first day of operations out of our new Distribution Center, located at 8160 Blakeland Dr, Unit G, Littleton, CO. Currently we are scheduled for deliveries to the Denver area three (3) times daily at 8:20AM, 11:20AM, and 2:00PM. The immediate response during our initial startup process has shown that our decision to put delivery service as a priority has been overwhelming and with this success, as of March 23, 2008, Shop Tools has had to add an additional driver.  As always the customer will be able to have items held for will call either at the Distribution Center at Chatfield or at the relocated sales office at, 7100 Broadway Unit 8-B. For the industrial market, this is a new method for getting tools to the customer on demand.”

By the end July 2008, Shop Tools, 955 Elkton Dr, Colorado Springs, will have relocated into a new business office; this location will be determined using feedback as well as accessibility and convenience. These sales hubs will feature a manned ordering kiosk at the sales counter, a new product showcase area, a remodeled B2B website for quick order entry to pre-qualified accounts. Will call and a sales counter will remain in Colorado Springs until further notice. “We will fully expand into the 10,000 square foot warehouse, with a conference room for 20, a 750 square foot show room, and a very efficient staff consisting of a team of inventory control and delivery specialists dedicated to accuracy and urgency. After all “what good is fast if it’s not correct?” With a fleet of fuel-efficient delivery vehicles delivering on a precise schedule, using GPS technology and a new updated website, will have those packages on the road as quickly as possible.”
